Popular 1920's Jazz Bands - Encore 6 includes selections
from several jazz bands from the mid to late 1920's.
Many of these selections contain hot jazz solos.
Several were popular hotel orchestras and a few were used on the radio.
Some of the bands on this volume were using alias name and
were assembled in the studio for recordings.

 

There are some excellent jazz band arrangements in this volume.

Popular pioneering Afro American jazz band of the 1920's musicians included:
 King Oliver (cornet), Tick Grey (cornet), Kid Ory (trombone ), Omer Simeon (clarinet)
and George Bias (vocals).

 

Washboard Rhythm Kings - Tracks 14, 15 and 17

Popular pioneering Afro American jazz band of the early 1930's musicians included:
Dave Page (trumpet), Ben Smith (alto saxophone), Carl Wade (tenor saxophone),
Eddie Miles (piano), Steve Washington (guitar) and Jimmy Spencer (drums, vocals)

Completely new personnel for these sessions.

Phil Capicotta (trumpet), Russ Morgan (trombone), Sid Trucker (clarinet),

Arrangements are very good but the style in now closer to jazz than Dixieland.
