Bio

Sid Gary was born Sidney Garfunkel on February 10, 1901 in Boston, Massachusetts, USA.
He was a popular radio and vaudeville performer.

He started out in vaudeville and was known as "the boy soprano"
The voice was also able to hit notes in the soprano range and this effect was used
in his vaudeville act.
Early in his career he worked with George Burns in vaudeville in 1920 as a double act.
Their act was called " Two Boys from Rhode Island in an Act of Providence".
After 2 years the act split up and each went on to their own solo career.

His recordings show a very rich baritone voice with an added dramatic flair.
They was very entertaining to listen to today with his unique presentation of the lyrics.

He was also an actor and appeared in several film shorts
He was known for Everything Happens To Me (1930),
Rambling 'Round Radio Row #1 (1932), Rambling 'Round Radio Row #2 (1932),
Ed Sullivan's Headliners (1934) and Timberland Revels (1937).
He performed his comedy vaudeville act in various clubs into the 1950's.
He also did impressions of Morton Downey, George Jessel and Al Jolson in his act.   
Guest appearances were made on TV into the 1960’s.

He died on April 3, 1973 in New York City, New York, USA.
